In the aftermath of the vicious gun attack on Robert Delany, his family and friends got together and formed the ‘Justice for Robert Delany Campaign’. The Campaign was formally launched at a meeting on Saturday, 31st January 2009 at the Plaza Hotel, Tallaght. The meeting was chaired by the Lord Mayor of Tallaght and all the local public representatives attended and spoke at the meeting, expressing their full support for the Campaign. Terry Delany, Robert’s father, also spoke at the meeting and he stated, “The purpose of the Campaign is to highlight Robert’s case and to bring those responsible for the vicious gun attack on him to justice”, and he went on to state, “The Delany Family will continue with the Campaign for however long it takes to get justice for Robert”. Following the meting, Robert’s family and friends distributed 10,000 leaflets in Tallaght, appealing for information which will help in the Garda investigation. Friends of Robert’s from the Communications Worker’s Union organised a very successful Race Night at the Post Office Club on Kiltipper Road in Tallaght and all of the funds raised have been put into a fund, the purpose of which is to purchase a home for Robert’s partner and children. John Wilson, a Garda based in Clones, Co. Monaghan, and his wife have also become involved in fundraising activities. John and his wife, who are Shelbourne supporters, a team Robert’s cousin plays for, have organised a match between Shelbourne and a Paul McGrath selection, which will take place 21st November 2009 at Tolka Park Dublin. John is seeking support for the game and he has set-up a bank account at the Bank of Ireland, the Diamond, Clones, Co. Monaghan – bank account details are:
